Hygiene and infection control are high priority - before each person's treatment all surfaces in the treatment area including chair, shelves, hooks or anything else that you might touch or put your belongings on are sanitized (using PREempt RTU surface disinfectant), in addition to the treatment table as well as the provision of clean linens for each person. All other surfaces in the entire clinic waiting area, reception and powder room are also sanitized regularly each day.
I had a flu shot in November 2022 and I have had 4 Covid vaccinations as of November 2022 and I will continue to be vaccinated according to public health recommendations. I have also chosen to continue to wear a mask when treating. As has always been a protocol for RMTs, I wash my hands regularly, including from fingertips to above the elbow right before each treatment. I even have a certificate in hand washing from the Ontario Ministry of Health (no kidding!).
If you have any concerns about infection control and your treatment please contact me to discuss. It is important to me that everyone feels safe and comfortable in my treatment space.
If you require someone to translate or assist you physically you are encouraged to have them accompany you, whether they remain for the treatment is entirely up to you. If you and a friend or family member are booking back to back treatments and arrive together, there is a seating area, however it is not 100% completely private from the treatment area, it is the choice of the person being treated whether anyone else stays in the studio during their treatment. There is a coffee shop a few doors down and many other lovely bakeries and cafes along Lake Shore for your companion to enjoy while you have your massage.
POLICY: For insurance and safety reasons children are not permitted in the waiting area while you are having your treatment (not to mention, leaving your kids at home will help in the relaxation part of your treatment).
The focus of my clinic is women's health. However I do treat people of all ages and walks of life. POLICY: For personal safety reasons I will be happy to accept male patients by referral only.
Yes, I also treat children. Please contact me to discuss your child's needs so we can schedule an appropriate treatment for them. Note: It is required that a parent or guardian remain in the clinic space (either seating area or treatment area) for the duration of the child's treatment if they are under the age of 12.
Pre/Post-Natal Massage - I completed extended training at Trimesters Massage Therapy Education. Pregnant individuals will receive back (and back of legs) treatments in a comfortable side-lying position with lots of pillows and bolsters to increase comfort. For treatment of your anterior body (front of legs, abdomen, arms, head neck shoulders) you will be positioned in a reclined sitting position with outstretched legs using an oversized triangle wedge and pillows (this is called in "fowler's position").
Once your little one arrives I also offer hands-on sessions to instruct you how to massage your own baby ~ it's a great bonding experience for you and baby and can help with issues like constipation and colic.
First I would like to say Bravo! for taking the first step to adding Massage Therapy to your self care routine. Don't worry, I will take a little extra time at your first appointment to walk you through everything so that there are no surprises. My clinic room is a safe, non-judgemental environment and you are in control of your massage treatment, from how much or how little clothing you remove to the pressure and areas of treatment. As an RMT in Ontario I have taken a 2200+ hour program that consisted of ethics, anatomy, academics and hands-on practice. In addition to graduating from an accredited program every Ontario RMT is required to successfully complete both written and hands-on board certification exams through the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario (CMTO) before being granted registration as a Registered Massage Therapist. We have standards and regulations that we must abide by. For more information please feel free to ask me or visit CMTO.com.
The best way to show your gratitude is to book another appointment or refer a friend. If you feel you must - make it a tip consisting of "words of wisdom" from your life experiences. However, I already know the tip about the yellow snow, so you'll have to be more creative! ;)
POLICY: As a healthcare provider I do not accept tips.
I use BioOrigin Neutral Massage Gel. The list of ingredients can be found on this link:
https://biooriginexperience.com/produit/massage-gels-natural-neutral/
I also have döTERRA Fractioned Coconut Oil available if you have sensitivities to any of the above ingredients.
If you have any concerns please let me know prior to your appointment so we can ensure a safe and comfortable treatment for you.
I use a sound machine with various relaxing instrumental sounds. If you have a favourite playlist that you would like to listen to during your massage treatment, let me know and you are welcome to connect to the bluetooth speaker and play your own tunes!
Unfortunately, no. There are steps, cobblestones and then stairs up to the 2nd floor. Unfortunately there is no elevator.
